Missed a bit!
I worked a model of Sand Hutton church and then moved onto the next one to realise I missed a wall off! I can’t believe it so that model will have to go on hold now till this weekend. I might get another out tomorrow.

A tale of three churches
I have worked 3 churches from yesterday’s trip. I have a fifth in the works, which should be on by tomorrow. Not sure about the final two churches as they are tricky. I will do them just not sure when they will be on.

35 Miles, 8 Models to come…
With it been a lovely greyed over day I decided to go out on another “SketchUp cycle mission”. This time I went a lot deeper into Yorkshire :op I mainly went for Churches but also did an abandoned garage building I passed along the way. I have that sorted as it only took 20 minuets to do. I should hopefully get the others up in the coming week. I have added a map of the trip.

7 CANS OF COKE!!!
I drank rather a lot tonight. Yet I am getting tired now. I managed to get 5 models into Google earth. They where not happy with my building maker things which is fine as they where a bit shoddy. I will do them up later. Tomorrow weather been well I shall get on the bike and head North East to get some new models. Today I did a little bridge in York.

Error Operator
It would seem that the instant I posted that blog Google did a 3D layer update!!! I have not had a confirmation e-mail off them yet but I can see the Minster in and a lot of the wall has been done up. I will do a bit more detailed report about it all tomorrow :oD
Wonder what to do
I have waited for a 3D layer update today and nothing! I have handed in my course work so now am free for a bit. I was hoping to see some models go up to make it a nice afternoon. Not sure why or when it will happen now. I have been playing with building maker and made places all over the world. I would like to do one in each city from building maker. Fingers crossed for a 3D layer update tomorrow.
Could it be?
It’s another late blog like it always seems to be on a Wednesday. I have been sorting my NVQ work. How ever I did manage to finish Skeldergate Bridge. It was a right monster at 4 meg big. It could have been a lot more detailed. It’s still really good to see. What the big “could it be” is tomorrow or today as its Thursday morning. Could the Minster finally go in? Not forgetting the wall bits they took out? We shall soon see…

Skeldergate Bridge
Is turning into a beast of a model. I know I said it would be on for Sunday but with the thing yesterday and today been busy its got a bit left behind. I will elaborate more about yesterday tomorrow as I am pooped again!

All change?
Today I went to a meeting which will be more explained tomorrow because I am very tired.

Next up
Will be Skeldergate Bridge. I got the photos today as it was nice weather. I have made a little but got bogged down by other things and have yet to finish it. How ever what I got made it look really good! Maybe done by tomorrow night when everything changes.

Just a little bit more
I did a few more improvements. Nothing much really as I have been doing other bits today.

Sorting it out
Tonight I have been working on getting things sorted off the list. I have done over half tonight and its made me feel better. Not sure if they will all work. Some things already have like better Geo-Locations for, Barker Tower, Fishergate Tower and Fishergate Bar. I also have addressed the white issues that have popped up. One or two of the models where floating a little to so have had a go at re uploading them as it seems that’s not my problem but something that happened in the upload. The only other bigy of the night was my basic rebuilding of Barker tower. Before it was very sharp cornered. Now it’s a lot more rounded and sits better with the terrain as it also partly floated before. I should be able to get the other bits round Walmgate sorted by the Monday. That’s when it all changes.

92%
Is how much wall is on Google Earth. I got 15 more models in today. Even though some are just the models that they took out the other week. I have yet to see some of those models be put back! How ever things are looking good for the models and big things are coming this Monday ;o)
York Bar Walls Book
Was the book that’s just been read. It’s very good and has lots of information about the walls. I will be quoting it for sections of the wall this weekend.

Confused
I got the Minster rejected after I did what Google asked. Apparently two models went into Google earth today but they where already in so not sure why I got told that. So I am confused about it the 3D layer was updated today or is it Thursday? I guess I will have to wait till Thursday
A new list
Today or more yesterday I did a new list of to do jobs for the wall. Over half was to make sure the bits that are missing go in. Not sure when the other jobs will get done.

A small tower on the wall.
Is no more. I have been round all the towers on the wall and changed there descriptions. I have got the information of a website called “pastscape.org.uk”. It was a stumbled upon site. Not sure how I have not seen it before. Anywhos now all the towers have great descriptions and dates. I will get round to adding in bits to the wall bits ass some sections are important or have things on them that can be explained.
In other news I managed to make another two models. One been from yesterdays excursion. That was the Viaduct at Stamford bridge. The other been the pianist, Karl Mullen. I wonder how Google with handle all this. The Viaduct is another long model at about 666 yards! Then Karl whom is a person not a building. I have seen people model all sorts and have it put in so it shouldn’t be a problem. I seem to have more problems with simple buildings then complex things.

Sketchup Cycle Mission
Today was lovely. I got up earlier and got the bike out to ride over to Stamford Bridge. The intention was to photograph the bridge. I got some photos and then biked back. Once home I managed to make the church in 3 hours. Just now I have done the bridge which took about 2 hours as it was tricky to photograph. This was my first go at my summer project. I call it “Sketchup Cycle Missions” in which you get on a bike and go for a ride. You have an intended target but anything’s game. You get the photos you need then come home and make the model while you rest of the ride. You will see more about this soon. Maybe another model tomorrow though I need to get some course work done so maybe not.

Davey Tower and Castlegate Wall
Is now done and has been put to Google. I worked on this a bit different to my other wall bits. I made the model as one big thing and then componenting the lot into small bits. Then uploaded the components to see how that handles in Google earth.
In other news Google got back to me about my models and they will be going back. Not sure on Micklegate Bar yet. That one needs a bit more of a fight from the looks of it. Something I do enjoy ;op

Not impressed!
I got up today to face the winds and my courses assessment. The assessment went well and I managed to not get blown about to much. The big blow was that from Google. In there wisdom they have managed to actually take models down! I have estimated that 13 models that where in Google earth have now been taken down due to them awaiting approval. You would think seen as it was in Google earth that they would just not put the new model up and keep the old one until the new model had been approved! I am just left with a very unimpressed face tonight!
In some good news I got some models live in Google Earth. The museum gardens railings and toilets both got in fine. The Minster got rejected on better model exists so that should be sorted soon. Saying they took 13 models of my wall out about 8 went in. they are mainly 8 that did not some how make the grade. I feel they had been forgotten by Google and just lost. The reloaded to all the models got them back on track so now are in. I have just about completed the St Mary’s Precinct wall now. 29 Marygate needs sorting and the church and lodge there to make it really complete. I have about 30 other bits to wall models that need sorting. 13 are models that need to be put back! One or two are suffering from this white blocking. Not sure why that is and some seem to be floating. I hope to get them fixed over the weekend. Along with adding in the bit of wall by Davey Tower and adding it better descriptions for the wall.
Windy
Yesterday was windy and today seems even more! I didn’t get much work on the wall done due to doing my course. I did how ever find a great website with information about the wall on. This weekend I will be updating my descriptions to make it more informative.

Pancake Day
After a course in the morning and then making about 100 pancakes I haven’t really done anything. Just a little to the new bit of wall. I have had a few models re approved and rejected due to a better model been on the site which is off because it’s my own model replacing it. Not sure why that’s happened.

Davy Tower and Castlegate Wall
I have got a little done on the bit of wall round Davy tower. Should be up by Friday.

One Long model
Tonight I have done possibly my longest model. The railings that run along the bottom of museum gardens along the river are about 245 yards long. I was going to split it into three but think it’s nice as one big long model. I have also added in the toilet block in the corner of the grounds. Also today I got measuring the bit of wall round Daveygate. Not sure when that will be done as I have yet to make a start on it. There are more pressing things to be done this week.

Coursed out
I had a 6 hour course today which was very dull and now my head is refusing to do much else. I have how ever had 70 odd models re approved. I did manage to get 8 rejected on the grounds I did to much ground for the models so an appeal has been sent out. It’s just about all the towers round the Minster that have suffered this.

Super Epic Upload!
I have reloaded every one of my models. All the models now contain, 1) Better terrain, 2) My logo, 3) A link to my website, 4) Better tagging, 5) History updates of the model and one or two have been slightly improved. The big shocker of the night and the one which has been talking me a while to sort was the Minster. I have made it smaller but am now able to add in the chapter house so making the total size 9mb big. I now await Google view on my mass upload and change to models.

Reload!
I got up this morning feeling great. I walked round the walls and got photos and measurements of bits and bobs before coming home and working on adding the dater into the models. I had work and then did some more updating. I have just spent the last hour and a half reloading the Minster parts of the wall. In the reloading I have added better texturing, my logo, better tags and added the models to the G3FX collection. Tomorrow I plan to do this to all my wall models and the other models I have. Also adding better terrain for some as they have been floating for a while.

Lacking that…
Motivation again is lacking. I think after two weeks entertaining followed by work hitting hard I have not felt like modelling. Possibly this weekend I will sort things out…
