Just Tonight

In about 2 more hours 2010 becomes 2011. It’s been a busy year for me and my models. In the next 2 hours I should be getting about 8 up. Possibly 14 by the end of the night is all works out. Also updating the three I have in already. Then we just keep fingers crossed that the weather gets better as its still holding me back. The walls will look a bit patchy until I can get the photos for the bits in-between models. In the mean time it gives Google time to look at the models and get them approved and put live. Role on 2011…

Geting hot!

Day three on building the wall. I have got on with the walls round from Monk Bar to Foss Island Road Bridge today. They look really nice but still lack photographic texturing on bits so sadly you’re just going to have to wait to see. The weather is getting better by the day. I might be able on Saturday to get some. Yet it might also be drizzly so maybe not :op If the weather keeps me back I will just carry on doing what I can without photos.

Coming along well...

Day two in my mission to get the city walls of York ups been a busy one. Lots of building and making sure it will all fit together. It’s been a bit better weather so I got on the walls to get some studying done. Its still to wet for photos. I don’t see it drying for a while to get my photos. Fingers crossed, until then I will build what I can.

What I will point out for now is that this will be a three staged project. In stage one I plan to get the walls uploaded and approved by Google Earth. Then in stage two I will improve the embankment to the walls by adding in better texturing. Then in stage three I will improve the walkways as some are arched underneath. When stages two and three would be done is unknown. More for a raininy day, yes I know its wet now, still got to get stage one done first!

Overture

Right, where to begin... Normally one would start at the beginning but this is a story that’s already deep in. I will start with the now. Right now this is my first blog. Not fully sure on how it all works. In time I am sure I will get better at this. I have created this blog for people to get to see what’s been going on with my SketchUp models and to give there point of views on the models.

What I am working on now is a HUGE project. I have decided to make the city walls of York. York is defined by its city walls. One of the reasons I got into making the 3D models was to make a model of the city walls. Just that was a long time ago. Since then I have developed my skills in using Google SketchUp and now am pushing the idea out there. I have currently put three bits of the wall up. Yet there are all the gatehouses up now which are apart of the over all model.

The aim is to get all the walls done by the middle of February 2011. I currently feel I can get the bit of wall running from Bootham Bar round to Monk Bar by the end of the year. Then I shall carry on the wall going clock wise. The only thing that’s stopping me right now is the weather. Luckily its getting milder so I am hoping to be able to get more photos for the model. If not then it could be a lot long to get this all done.

Other then that I believe that’s all for now. I will put a message up once a day to give an update how the walls are coming along. Any question about the wall or any other models just leave a message.
